A Clinical Evaluation of Electronic Sphygmomanometer

Abstract
Four Hundred and ninety healthy Koreans were checked their arterial blood pressure by indirect mercurial, aneroid and electronic automatic sphygmomano meter respectively and serial measurements with 30 second interval were recorded in 50 students, The results obtained were as follow.
1. The value of blood pressure in 490 normal Korean were 127¡¾16.3/78.8¡¾12 4mmHg by mercury sphygmomanometer. Similar with previous data of other authors and 128.6¡¾16.6/71.0¡¾13.OmmHg by electronic sphygmomanometer(We don¢¥t have any data for comparison.)
2. Systolic value were slightly higher (¡¾1.2mmHg) whereas diastolic was definitely lower (-7.8mmHg) with electronic sphygmomanometer than that of mercury (p3. Serial determination exerted minimal effect on both systolic and diastolic value although the tendency of progressive lowering was noted.
4. No significant discrepancy was noted between the values measured by well-trained and newly-trained with electronic sphygmomanometer.
